Illinois DECA provides multiple opportunities for students to show off their skills and gain knowledge and understanding in business. Plainfield North DECA participates in the Leadership and State Officer Election Conference every fall.
Every January, members compete in the Southern Region Competition. Finalists have to opportunity to attend the Illinois Career Development Conference (ICDC) in March. ILCDC Finalists will have the once in a lifetime opportunity to compete at DECA’s International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in April.

Fall Leadership and State Officer Election Conference
Fall Leadership and State Officer Election Conference gives students the chance to kick-off their DECA year with a leadership conference filled with action and opportunity. Professional educational speakers are hired to assist students in developing leadership and team decision making skills. State Officer elections allow for students to take democratic action, as they select the year’s State Action Team. All in all, the SEC is a great way to begin your year in DECA.

DEEvery January Plainfield North DECA participates in the IL DECA Southern Regional competition. Here, DECA Members have the opportunity to network, compete, and learn about business concepts.

Individuals will compete in an event under the subcategories of Principles of Business Administration Events, Team Decision Events, and Individual Series Events. Please see the Events tab for more details.

Participants are scored based on an average of three event scores. Each member will take one cluster-based 100 question multiple choice exam, one 50 question economics exam, and one role play presentation.
​
Top 3 finalists in each event have to opportunity to advance to the Illinois Career Development Conference.

Regional Conference
Illinois Career Development Conference (ILCDC)
ILCDC is a three-day competition that allows students to learn about various business skills while competing against students from across the state of Illinois.
​
Every March Plainfield North DECA students get to show off their professional skills in competition. Each student must participate in an event under the subcategories of Principles of Business Administration Events, Team Decision Events, and Individual Series Events (please see the Events tab for more details).
Participants will also have the ability to compete in events under the subcategories of Personal Financial Literacy, Business Operations Research, Chapter Team Events, Entrepreneurship, Marketing Representative, Professional Selling and Consultation, and Online Events. These events require a written component and an oral presentation and MUST be done in conjunction with a Principles of Business Administration Event, Team Decision Event, or Individual Series Event.

These scores will be used to determine qualification for ICDC for Principles of Business Administration Events, Team Decision Events, and Individual Series Events.

Top four finalists competing in a Principles of Business Administration Event, Team Decision Event, Individual Series Events, or Personal Financial Literacy Event will have the opportunity to attend the International Career Development Conference (ICDC). Top three finalists in the Business Operations Research Events, Chapter Team Events, Entrepreneurship Events, Marketing Representative Events, Professional Selling and Consultation Events will have the opportunity to attend the International Career Development Conference (ICDC).

ICDC
DECA’s Career Development Conference takes place every April. Students compete, network, and improve their business knowledge!
Participants will have the opportunity to explore Anaheim, California with 15,000+ DECA members from across the world at ICDC 2017!
Students may only compete in ONE event at ICDC.
